Guided Walking Holidays in the Alps

The Alps have been a popular walking destination for the British since the middle of the nineteenth century. To get the best out of walking here it is probably best to follow one of the classic circuits, staying occasionally in mountain huts to save descending too frequently into the valleys. This has the advantage of ever-changing vistas and a variety of accommodation. You can also experience several different countries as you move between around the Alps between France, Italy and Switzerland.

The guided walking trips Pathways Walks currently offer are the Tour of Mont Blanc and the Tour of Monte Rosa, although we have also run the Walkers' Haute Route (Chamonix-Zermatt) several times in the past.

Walkers usually arrange their own flights to Geneva (in these days of good value airlines this helps us to keep the cost to you down) . For groups arriving on the same flight we arrange for a coach transfer to Chamonix (Argentiere) or Zermatt.

We arrange baggage transfer on most days so you can walk with just a daypack. When we spend nights in huts, you have to carry overnight gear. Similarly, on the Tour of Monte Rosa there will be one or two nights where distances and narrow roads make it impractical to have your luggage delivered to the hotel. On these occasions you have to carry gear for two or three days.
