About Us

Martin is a member of the British Association of International Mountain Leaders (BAIML), the internationally recognised qualification for leading parties throughout the mountains of Europe. He has taught Outdoor Activities both in secondary schools and as an instructor in outdoor centres.

He is fluent in French and Spanish and has taught both languages for many years. He is also competent in German and Italian.

As well as running guided walking holidays for Pathways Walks, Martin has worked as a freelance leader in Europe, Morocco and the Himalayas.

Gill has held the Mountain Leader Award for many years and has designed Outdoor Activity courses for schools. She speaks French and some Spanish and is an expert at finding suitable hotels and restaurants for the guided walking holidays!

Background

We've been organising guided walking holidays in the Lake District under the name Pathways since 1996. Since then, by popular demand we've also expanded our guided walking holidays into other areas we know well: the Alps, Pyrenees, the Languedoc and Andalucia.

We are based in the Southern Lake District, not far from Ulverston and Coniston. We specialise in guided walking holidays on quiet pathways as well as classic routes.

It's a family business started by Martin and Gill but drawing on the expertise of other guides, walking leaders and colleagues as required.

We've both been going to the mountains for as long as we can remember.
